I had the privilege of volunteering with enjuba during the district spelling bees in Wakiso district last year. As a university student, it was an incredible experience to interact with the brilliant children who participated in the event. I was also impressed by the dedication of the enjuba team and was happy to assist with organizing the book distribution to the spellers. It was a truly rewarding experience that I will always treasure.

We organize spelling bee competitions to enhance vocabulary and boost confidence among children in a fun and engaging way. Being a volunteer is very great, explorative, interactive.
To be a volunteer means being persuasive to some, humble and willing to incur some costs for a positive outcome for the spelling bee initiative in even far distant areas but its been very honorary to be an enjuba volunteer in the grand of scheme of things

During my four months with enjuba, I saw literacy as more than just reading—it’s the foundation of independent thought and expression. It shapes how we learn and communicate. In my work on branding, visualization, and web design, I aimed to reflect this by strengthening the connection between literacy and local culture. Coming from an art education background, this experience showed me that design is not just about aesthetics—it’s a way to create impact and empower voices.
