On the 12th of January, we successfully concluded our inaugural teacher coaches training. The training, which ran from 5th January marked an important milestone in our efforts to strengthen learning outcomes across our Early Learning Centres (ELCs) in Mayuge district.

The onboarding brought together a cohort of 4 dedicated teacher coaches who will play a critical role in supporting teachers in and out of the classroom throughout the year—guiding teachers, strengthening instructional practice, and ensuring that every child receives a strong foundation for learning.
Why Teacher Coaching Matters in Early Childhood Education

Teacher coaches are central to improving early childhood education, literacy development, and numeracy skills. Through continuous classroom support, mentorship, and observation, they help bridge the gap between curriculum design and day-to-day teaching practice.
During the onboarding week, coaches were equipped with practical tools to:
- Support classroom instruction and lesson planning
- Track and assess learning outcomes
- Strengthen child-centred teaching approaches
- Provide ongoing feedback and professional development for teachers
This structured training ensures that learning in our ELCs is intentional, measurable, and responsive to the needs of young learners.

Supporting Classrooms in Mayuge
For the rest of the year, our teacher coaches will work closely with educators in Mayuge, offering consistent classroom support and monitoring progress across key learning areas. Their presence ensures that teaching quality remains high, data-driven, and aligned with enjuba’s mission of improving access to quality education.
By tracking learning outcomes and supporting teachers directly in the classroom, the coaches help create environments where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Building Strong Foundations for Lifelong Learning
Early learning is a critical stage in a child’s development. Investments in teacher training, coaching, and professional development have a direct impact on school readiness, literacy, and long-term educational success.
Our approach recognises that sustainable education reform is built by supporting educators just as much as learners. This week-long training reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening teaching practice as a pathway to improved educational outcomes for children and communities.
As our teacher coaches start off their work, we are excited about the year ahead and looking forward to the evidence-based learning lessons and solutions that will come from this deployment.
