This year has been a remarkable one for our Library Stocking Campaign. Together with our partners at the African Library Project, we received a 40ft container filled with books and used it to breathe new life into school and community libraries across Uganda.
From that shipment, we were able to create and restock 56 mini-libraries in primary schools and community spaces. Each of these libraries is now a doorway for children to access stories, explore knowledge, and build the foundation for lifelong literacy.
But providing books is only part of the journey. To ensure that these resources are well managed and reach the learners who need them most, we also conducted a training session for librarians and teachers at the Enjuba premises. The training, led by Cathy Krutter, focused on book handling, storage, record keeping, and best practices in library management. The goal was simple: to equip library custodians with the tools to keep their collections vibrant and sustainable.
Every book placed on a shelf is an opportunity. Every trained librarian is a guide to open new worlds for young readers. This year’s campaign has reminded us that access to books is not just about reading, it’s about giving children the chance to dream, imagine, and prepare for a brighter future.
